After a few weeks, my desk can get quite filled with printouts, note, manuals, books, post-it notes and all. Honestly, it was in dire need of a clean up. First things first, its amazing how your own desktop (laptop) can start to mimick the offline world counterpart. A minimalist approach was needed. I must admit, its a bit daunting to realized that 80% of the stuff on your desk doesn’t need to be there.
Take a look at this prime example of minimalist approach at its best. Thats a great look. I’m down to 40% of the paperwork and things are finally going into place.
Here are some tips to keep you going to the pursuit of perfection:
Get started. You know you don’t really want to but you just have to take the first step. I usually sort things out. Keep, Throw, Store.
Keep ONLY the materials you need for that particular project or task. There’s no point in making your desk a bookshelf. I, myself, had two reports, one book, some post-it notes everywhere and paper receipts. (Note to self: File paper receipts for book keeper. )
Rethink your workspace, if you ended up making your place cluttered, take a look at the structure and ergonomics of your workstation. Maybe some rearrangement will avoid future catastrophes. (joke)
I realized. Paper weights are USELESS. It just gives us more reasons to keep stuff around.
Each day, tidy up your desk before you call it a day. Yes, folks, its a good habit to pick up so that tomorrow your day will start right and you can FOCUS
If ever you find yourself in Japan, be sure to bow when you meet someone. If ever you have to apologize forsomething, here
is a quick vid on how to say “I’m Sorry” Japanese style.

Today was an unusually interesting day… Did you ever wake up in the morning and realize its going to be a good day. Well, I had woke up this morning with that overall aura of calmness. On the way to the office, I looked up and indeed blue skies ahead. For those, people who feel overwhelmed at times, I sincerely recommend to take some time to clear your head. Meditation will help re-focus your inner energy and re-align your lower energy levels to where you need to be. (Or shall i say, where you know you want to be).
Over the past month or so, I’ve been testing a few new approaches regarding blog commenting and its effectiveness re: SEO and ranking. Its interesting to note that although the time its takes to contribute to blog comments, the verdict is still out. However, I’ve made a few simple rules to follow if you do choose to promote your blog or site using Blog Commenting.
One software I utterll love is CommentHut. Its free, and by Paul Forcey. You can purchase the full version, but the for now, I’ve been using the trial version. Yes, I’m frugal.
As for blog commenting, here are my rules to effectively blog without triggering too many flags.
Rule #1: Be Smart, duh?!
There’s nothing worst than to post. “I like your post.” heres my link.
Just DON’T do it. If you are going to spend the timet o post of another person’s blog. READ the post and contribute something relevant to the conversation. It sounds easy enough, just don’t flood the web with more crap. Be smart and post something that you feel you want to share about the topic. Do you agree? Oppose? Suggestions…? Whatever. Just Be sure its a good comment that is NOT GENERIC.
Rule #2: Address the Poster
The sweetest words anyone will ever hear is his/her own name. Vain but true. Please take the time to address your reply to a user. Not only does it prove you’re a REAL human. But adds a warm fuzzy feeling to the readers… that you really do care. As for your own name, yes, post your name in the sig as well. There’s something about closing your post with your name that will help build your own persona.
In doing both of these, your chances of approval greatly increase. I’ll have a report regarding scientific results next week or so. I’ve testing using Keyword phrases… I’ll let you know the bottom line.
Rule #3: No link in the Comment
I hate it and you hate it. Whats up with the URL in the comment. Personally, the link in your poster name is enough for me. I really don’t find self promotion in the comment very appealing. I would avoid it at all costs. Just be smart about it and post good content. Really, i’ve found myself visiting other blogger sites because I enjoyed their insight.
Anyways, just 3 simple rule to help you SEO’er out there fly under the radar. Take that Cialis and Web Hosting wrong-doers.
Well, If you haven’t guessed already. I began my journey into some of the social media circles and hangouts and found myselft being captivated on digg.com with that being my secondary choice for news and cool things to pickup up on…Might be useful someday on Jeopardy. LOL. Well, in my clicking and surfing… I can across some an interesting site. www.webpronews.com and an article about MYTHBUSTING of Social Media. It was a good read.
Had some fires to put out in the office, but everything is pretty much back to normal. As for the social media for 2008. I will be reviewing the following services: onlywire and social marketer… I will be rating its ease of use and effectiveness regarding helping you make the most of your marketing efforts.
I took a look at DayTipper and Fivelimes and felt that it my not be as easy as it appears to place a link in the commenting area. As also, trailfire, looks interesting but i fumbled around with the submission. I believe it’s like webrings but in a nicer format. (More to follow in an upcoming post)
In the meantime, I’ll be jumping back on posting daily as i don’t want to fall back to missing out on contributing to the blogosphere.
Jonathan Leger has an awesome post about how Social Bookmarking can and WILL help your rankings. One thing I agree is that you need to get your feet wet and take all this social media marketing for a spin.
